Our background and experience



At TECNALIA Ventures we focus our efforts on the creation of a venture building ecosystem in order to help TECNALIA transfer its technology to the market. We connect the three fundamental pillars of any innovation ecosystem: minds, management and money. We aim to turn innovative technological assets into new profitable and sustainable businesses. We do all this by identifying technologically disruptive solutions, exposing them from early stages of development to investment criteria, focusing the efforts on the business opportunities with highest commercialization potential.



TECNALIA is a benchmark research and technological development centre in Europe; with 1,400 experts from 30 different nationalities, focusing on transforming technology into GDP to improve people's quality of life, by creating business opportunities for companies. Its main scopes of action are: digital transformation, advanced manufacturing, energy transition, sustainable mobility, urban ecosystem and health.

Aerospace Valley

Aerospace Valley is the biggest European cluster dedicated to aeronautics, space and drone sector gathering more than 800 members from industry and research including 500 SMEs, large corporate groups, major aerospace research establishments, engineering schools and local authorities. The objective of Aerospace Valley is to leverage the competitiveness and visibility of its members. Industry 4.0 is at the core of Aerospace Valley strategy through several offered services such as networking, innovation and business development.

German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence - DFKI

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence is Europe's largest research facility for artificial intelligence and a leader in applied research in computer science. The range of services extends from application-oriented basic research to the customer-oriented development of technologies or product functions. The strong emphasis on knowledge transfer has led to DFKI being the German research center with the highest spin-off rate.

Research Institutes of Sweden - RISE

RISE is the Swedish Research Institute and innovation partner. In international collaboration with industry, academia and the public sector, we ensure the competitiveness of the business community and contribute to a sustainable society. Our 2,700 employees support and promote all manner of innovative processes. RISE is an independent, state-owned research institute that offers unique expertise and about 100 testbeds and demonstration facilities, instrumental in future-proofing technologies, products and services.
As of 1 October 2018, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB is, indirectly, the only shareholder in RISE IVF AB (former Swerea IVF AB). A large proportion of our customers are small and medium-sized companies. RISE is coordinator or partner in most of the national initiatives under the government strategy for smart industry and digitalization.

Politecnico Milano

At a glance, the School of Management delivers an end-to-end portfolio of services in research, education and high level consultancy within the field of management, economics, and industrial engineering. The School deliberately offers an end-to end portfolio of programmes, addressing, on the one hand, the needs of Politecnico di Milano, whose mission, as a state-owned university, is to offer academic and research education including BSc and MSc, mostly pre-experience, and the PhD Programme; and, on the other hand, to respond to the requests of the corporate world, with its demand for specialised, post-graduate and post-experience education including MBAs, Specialised Masters, Executive and Corporate Education. We aim to be a reference point for companies and the community at large for a wide range of management educational services.

Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation – Patras

The Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS) is oriented on research and development in cutting edge scientific and technological fields. LMS is involved in a number of research projects funded by the CEU and European industrial partners. Particular emphasis is given to the co-operation with the European industry as well as with a number of “hi-tech” firms. LMS is organized in three different groups: 1) Manufacturing Processes Modelling and Energy Efficiency, 2) Robots, Automation and Virtual Reality in Manufacturing, 3) Manufacturing Systems and it has a fully equipped machine shop that contains high payload industrial robots, collaborative robots and machine tools.
